David was the foreman at Kahuku Ranch from the early 1920's. He was a true rough riding Paniolo, roping wild cattle, one of which dragged him over a cliff horse and all. David later rode for Tongg Ranch in Nanakuli. Hard evidence exists of David’s life as a Paniolo. On his son’s birth certificate under "father’s occupation" it reads: "cowboy".
