Eddie was born and raised in the early 30's on Kauai and grew up in a plantation/ranching environment. He graduated from Punahou School in 1951 and California State Polytechnic College in 1955 with a degree in Agriculture and Animal Husbandry. He served two years active duty in the marine corps and then returned to the island of Hawaii where he worked for C. Brewer & Co., Hilo electric Light Co. before joining Theo H. Davies and Co. as manager of Kukaiau Ranch, Ltd. When the ranch was sold Eddie moved to Maui and became manager of Ulupalakua Ranch until he retired in 1997. Eddie remained an active Paniolo in retirement through his directorship on the Hawaii Cattle Producers Cooperative Association.
